Training
Once appointed, students agree to perform the duties of CommLab
coaches as listed in the "application" section of this site.
Students will complete training sessions in preparation for their
work in the lab. Students may not work in the lab without
participating in at least one training session.
Scheduling
Coaches will receive schedules every 2-4 weeks. The schedule will be
distributed to Coaches and posted in the lab.
Schedule preferences: Each Coach will indicate
preferred times to work and the number of hours requested each
week. Every attempt is made to complete the master schedule
according to the preferences indicated by the Coaches. While
some wage students may not get the number of hours they
requested one week, the Coordinator will attempt to provide more
hours in other weeks.
Schedule changes: Coaches who cannot work at a
designated time should attempt to find another Coach to work
those hours. Coaches might trade shifts or simply give a shift
to another Coach. The Coach Coordinator should be notified via
e-mail of any change.
Cancellations: In case of an emergency, a
Coach should send e-mail to the Coordinator indicating that a
shift will not be covered. This occurrence would certainly be
rare.
Documenting participation
- Coaches should sign in and out of the lab.
- Coaches should keep an electronic log of their hours and a
journal of their observations, questions, or suggestions. This
log-journal should be sent via e-mail to the Coach Coordinator as
requested.
- Wage students must submit a time sheet to every two weeks.
Concerns
At any time the Coach, a CommLab Manager, the CommLab Coordinator,
and/or the the CommLab Director might confer about concerns any one
of them might have. In cases of poor performance, Coaches will be
notified at such a conference about expectations for future
performance or any action that may be taken. |
