CommLab

Faculty Resources

Whether you've used student presentations for a long time in your courses, or whether you're new to this instructional strategy, you may want to explore the resources listed here.

What we can do for you:

  • Schedule one of our coaches (peer tutors) to speak to your class
  • Let you know which of your students attended CommLab

What you can do for us:

  • Give us ideas about how to better help your students
  • Provide us with your assignment guidelines, grading and/or critique sheets, etc.
  • Encourage students to use the CommLab

If you would like to send your students to CommLab, please contact the CommLab coordinator or director. We can keep copies of your assignments on file and instruct our coaches about your classroom expectations.

The CommLab Coordinator can also offer seminars specific to your students' needs. Guest lectures have been requested on Mastering Public Speaking, Actions Speak: Nonverbal Communication, More Effective Small Talk, Effective use of PowerPoint and other Speech Aids, Group Communication, among others. Email Brandi Quesenberry for more information or to set up an appointment.

You can also contact Marlene Preston, CommLab Director for sample rubrics you might adapt for your own classroom use.
